I'm looking for DVD movies for my mother who is very ill. There are times when she desperately needs distraction to take her mind off the pain and side effects of treatment.
I have a few ideas of titles... I'm always interested in more... nice/meaningful good storylines. Nothing too heavy (holocaust)
It begins to add up to purchase.
It needs to be DVD format , as opposed to Netflix or whatever.
Anyone know an organization that may lend us?
Anyone have that they're ready to part with?
Anyone want to sponsor a few?

Me, Earl and the Dying Girl is a great, humorous movie of a teenage trying to cheer up a random classmate with cancer his Mom makes him go visit. Since it involves cancer, I have no idea if this will be a good distraction. It is funny though! (There's some other movies involving cancer, it doesn't sound like what you're looking for).

public libraries usually lend out dvds, don't they?
Also, here at least, thrift stores sell dvds really cheaply. like for $1 or $2.
Libraries are more likely to have quality titles though.

Why don't you buy her a cheap tablet (like amazon fire) that she can watch stuff on? There is so much stuff online and she might find it easier not to have to deal with dvds.

Thank you for your responses.
I'm going to try some of the organizations.
The public library where my mom lives rents for 3 days only.
That just doesn't work.
My mom can manage to put a disk in on her own, but other than that she is totally technologically illiterate.
Thank you so much

really, figuring out how a tablet works is easier then a dvd player. Its a new skill but really not hard. I know women in their 90s who use tablets regularly.
Re libraries - can you renew online? You could do that for her.
