We just found out that ds, who has a history of ADHD with learning difficulties and irritability, has started playing with fire semi-regularly 😥 I know it's relatively common but the concerning part was that he lied to us about it (extremely unlike him- he's typically very open) which lends itself to having become a shameful behavior that he's been covering up for a while... While I'm trying not to get frantic over something that might just be nothing major, it's obviously pretty worrisome...
The main issue for now is that we're supposed to be going upstate next week for July- does anyone know of any psychologists or social workers who work upstate? I guess perhaps monsey might be close enough as well? I don't think this issue can wait until august to be addressed...
Thank you very much in advance for your help!!

I don't think you should have him see someone for four weeks and than see someone new again. It takes time to learn to trust and build a relationship.

another option is for you to work with someoen that will guide you on how to respond and work with your son
I know someone who works by phone and does this -- guiding parents of adhd children.
