I am looking to take our kids away (ages 2 thru 11) for an extended weekend , Wednesday thru Sunday. I dont mind bringing food but need at least a minyan on Shabbos. We need some exciting activities for them Has to be within 6 hour drive, or 3 hour flight from NYC. Go!

Onset (Cape Cod), Hunter/Tannersville, DC, Boston, Newport, Niagara (7 hour drive, but can fly to Buffalo), Chicago (fly) - any of these sound appealing?

Niagara sounds tempting but its close to 8 hours in the car, and flying is expensive. Maybe something a little closer with Shabbos food available would be the best.

You may enjoy this place: http://vermontmenucha.com/index.html . They have a book with nearby attractions and a concierge that helped us find things to do.

We went last year and took along our food for shabbos. They do have an option of ordering shabbos in advance. There is a small (kosher) store onsite and a local store nearby for cereal and juice.

You could check out this place: http://www.harrishunter.com/. I've never been there and you should verify its hashgacha, but it may be worth looking into, since it's nearby and has food available.

Scranton pa is a really affordable option. You can order food through chabad of the abingtons, there are a few hotels within the eruv and less than twenty minute walk to shul. So many activities in the area-think poconos so hiking/boating/biking etc

Which hotel is within the eruv in Scranton?
Is the Yeshiva minyan open on Shabbos in the Summer?

Radisson is in the Scranton eiruv and I believe Hilton as well, but you should double-check. The yeshiva is on bein ha'zmanim in Av. The minyan certainly goes until then, and I wouldn't be surprised if they still had during Av, though you could PM Shanie5 who lives there and would know for sure.
