Baruch Hashem, my son is consistently using the potty! Hurray!

Problem: his tzi tzis keep falling into the potty during various stages of him "doing his business" or wiping . Messy!!!

I told him to hold them but he keeps accidentally losing his hold of them.

Lately I've been taking them off before he goes, but I worry that he won't learn properly how to manage them.

Advice?

Cut the strings shorter. Ask your dh if that's ok. It worked for me.

A child that's not fully trained yet is not mechiyuv to wear tzitzis.

This. Also buy a too small pair of tzitzis for when he's trained. They're shorter and easier for him to deal with.

My family custom is not to put tzitzis until fully trained as we were told it is disrespectful to the tzitzes.

My ds always asks me to roll up his tzitzis before using the bathroom. I roll them up tucked into his shirt and undershirt also rolled up... does the job very well.

I take the back strings and tie it around his waist.
The front strings are not the problem usually

We only start tzitzis when fully trained.
Cappel at 3 and tzitzis when fully toilet trained.
