I grew up sleeping on the bottom high riser and got away with just pushing the whole mess under the top bed.
When I had a singles apt. I made my bed daily.
Once we had kids who had time to make beds. a bed can't get more unmade but a house can get dirtier. what little energy I had went to cleaning and tidying, not bedmaking.
I could in theory make my bed in the dark but I leave home when dh is still asleep and don't want to blunder around making a disturbance . It's a good excuse at any rate. At some point the disorder got to me and I asked dh to make both beds daily. No bedspreads, we don't even own any, just straighten everything out. This he does and what a diff it makes in my mood. When the bed is a mess the whole room is a mess. With the bed in order the whole room appears orderly even if it isn't really.

I don't make my bed. No one sees my bed and the only time I'm in my room is when I'm either sleeping or getting ready for work or bed. It's an exercise in futility to neaten something up that will be right back its tousled state within 12 hours. Seems like kind of an insane routine to me.
I have a housekeeper that likes making my bed and every so often I have to remind her to please not do it. I really don't like even expending the energy on having to pull back my blankets and kick them off the edge of the bed just to get comfortable when I go to sleep (I don't like the feeling of the blanket weighing down on my feet at the bottom of the bed). I'd much rather dive right in and pull the blanket over me the way I like it, in one fell swoop. It's a more efficient use of my time and energy to have an unmade bed.

it takes 2 minutes to make all our beds...
straughtening the blanket and making the pillow fluffy... come on whats the big deal?
I think the rooms look MUCH neater and the effort is really ZERO.
its not like sponga where you have to bend (im due soon so its harder) and wash and rinse and use chemicals and with a large appartment it takes for ever or piles of dishes or ironing 15 shirts...
making beds its really just 2 minutes, so why not?

I'd rather get 2 extra minutes of sleep, or spend 2 extra minutes chatting with my husband, or get 2 extra minutes of sleep, or spend 2 extra minutes talking with my children before I leave for work, or 2 extra minutes cuddling with the baby, or 2 extra minutes of sleep.
I'm not a fan of expending energy on extraneous tasks without tangible benefit to myself or others.
