Any suggestions for a city to spend shabbos within 3 hrs of NYC? Hotel or airbnb. Preferably near a minyan.

Trying to work out a vacation when dh has no vacation days, and I'm terrible at planning. Desperate for something relaxing.

Appreciate any suggestions.

Go to Hunter Mountain/Tannersville.

You're looking for a city that's relaxing? To me that's an oxymoron. Wink

There's a website www.hotelsnearshuls.com. We've done some local shabbos getaways and enjoyed them a lot.

It's a drop more than 3 hours, but Onset (Cape Cod) is beautiful and SO relaxing! Tannersville is also nice, but it can be hard to find places there near the shuls.

Well, not necessarily. I live in a city of about 200K people, and whenever people come from the NY Metro area, they always comment how quiet it is. A lot of green, quiet places to walk. very little traffic. So cities can be relaxing! not an oxymoron at all.

Anyway, OP-- both Onset and Newport are nice. hotels in newport are pretty expensive this time of year. Onset is a lower-end New England beach town-- not nearly as nice as other towns along the cape and in Maine, so it's fairly reasonable.
