Who's going with you (just DH, or kids)? What do you like to do? If you want a city, Boston or DC are both great. If you want nature, there's the Catskills and Poconos. Along the water, look into Newport and Onset (Cape Cod).

Is there a minyan in the Poconos on Shabbos?

There are camps there that have minyanim if you can arrange to be within walking distance. Otherwise Scranton has minyanim and isn't too far away.

1. Are there any hotels within walking distance to camps on the Poconos?
2. In Boston are you better of going to Brookline for Shabbos or staying in Boston proper?
3. Anyone know any minyanim in Berkshires besides Chabad?

I doubt there's any hotels in walking distance to Poconos camps, maybe an AirBNB or VRBO. Boston it's up to you; the main Jewish community is in Brookline, though I believe there's Chabads and Hillel Houses in Boston proper. I believe Chabad is the only minyan in the Berkshires.

Have you been in Brookline for Shabbos? What is there to do Shabbos afternoon?

There's a beautiful reservoir to walk around (near the Maimonides school) with stunning houses around it (it's the area where Larry Bird, Tom Brady, etc. live).

It would help if you told us why he's not interested, and what he's looking for as an alternative.

Most of Boston proper isn't within the eruv if that's important to you. And in Brookline, you can get a hotel room with key entry if you specifically book that.

So then go to Tannersville/Hunter which is similar to the Poconos but with an easily accessible Shabbos minyan.
