My son is barmitsvah year in a large class - over 20 boys. In our community, at least all the boys & some times the parents are invited to each barmitsvah. Usually a kiddish & then a melave malka or Sunday party. It is a mostly modern Orthodox to OOT Yesivish community. If I just give a check or cash for $ 50. Is that enough? We could afford to give $100. per boy, but it just seems like a lot of money, individually & over the whole year.
Alternately, years ago a mother of several boys told me that for barmitsvah year she bought a stack of some sefer & gave the same Sefer to each boy. I would not know how to pick which Sefer & what if they already have it?
Thoughts? Suggestions?

My son just finished his BM year. For the boys we decided as a class to all chip in Once and each boy got the same gift as a gift from the clas
If there were boys that me and DH went to the BM we gave our standard $$ gift
