I know several American girls (some frum some not) named this-pronounced like Berry., but when I asked my Israeli husband about it he looked puzzled and said "that's not a name".

Does anyone know the meaning of this name? Is it used in your community?

My relative's name is Bari. It's an English name. Her Hebrew name is something different. It's a variation of the boys name Barry. MO community.

I have a female relative named Barrie. I'm guessing that's a variant spelling and it's related to Barry.

It's a biblical name too - Hoshea ben Be'eri.

I know of Bari (pronounced "Barry") as an English name. I think if it in the same category as Leni, Geri and Teri - a female version of an androgynous name with that type of spelling.

I have never heard it pronounced as "Berry," but there are some places where the local accent would make it more likely.

Also appears in sefer Bereshit - Yehudit bat Be'eri - a wife of Esav.
Be'eri is very trendy now among DL in Israel.
I've heard if used for both boys and girls.
