How old are these kids?
responses would be different if they are 3 and 4 then it would be if they are 10 and 12.

I've said this a million times, and I'll say it again.
Buy the book "Parenting Kids With Love and Logic"! (The book for teens is amazing, too.)
I just can't say enough good things about it. Buy it, read it often, and really let it sink in.

as far as the coloring on walls. She should definitely help you clean up the walls. In addition as far as consequence - I would either
1) not let her use the crayons for a short while; or
2) For a short while, require her to come ask if she could color every time before she colors and say "until I see that you can use crayons the right way (I.e. only on paper...) then you can only color with me watching" Also in that short time period, I would once or twice say "I can't watch you color right now because I am busy doing xxx." Then after a week or so I would say "I see that you have been responsible this past week and have only colored on paper so I am going to try to let you color without me watching.

And put the crayons away high up for a few days because she doesn't know how to use them.
