My father is Israeli, born in Israel, lives in Israel.

My mother is American, born in America, lives in America.

I am a duel citizen, born in America, lives in America, never lived in Israel.

My husband is American, born in America, lives in America.

Do my children need to become Israeli citizens? Can we visit Israel with everyone using American passports and I use both?

Probably best to contact the closest Israeli consulate.

Ask Chaim V'Chessed. They can probably help.

Seems to make more sense to ask the Consulate. There you are sure to get the most up-to-date and accurate information.

Chaim v'Chesed's tagline is:
We’re the one-stop organization for information, guidance and crisis management for Israel’s English speaking population.

The OP doesn't live in Israel.

They deal with a lot of these issues. I'd go the CVC route and if they can't help me deal with the consulate. I personally find the gov't agencies to be a total pain to deal with. CVC has very updated info. (I'm not affiliated in any way. They have helped me a lot though)

I'm not sure if they are but make sure to look into it. An Israeli citizen is not allowed to enter Israel without their passport therefore if your kids are considered citizens, Border Control might make a whole fuss and not let them leave Israel until they obtain passports.

FYI, if they are citizens, there is a simple process to give up their citizenship.

Thank you so so much!

I called them and they were very helpful

It sounds like the rule is the following:

"A child must have Israeli citizenship if one of their parents are Israeli if one of the following is true:

They are born in Israel

Their parent was born in Israel"

Since my children were born in America and I was born in America my Israeli citizenship did not pass on to them and they enter the country under US Passports. I need to enter under my Israeli Passport.
