Stand them steady, spaced apart.
Tops together, form a peak
Two more cards and repeat.
Foundation set, symmetry intact
Aligned and even, ready to stack.
Topped with cards horizontal
Guaranteed not to topple.
Taller by another tier
An edifice soon appears.
Cautious, careful calculations
Renders perfect card formation.
Only one card still remains
Colored by design, joker by name.
Slowly, stealthily, placed at the summit
Sigh of relief, you have done it.
Then the joker, just a sliver
Mocks you with a silent quiver
Escalates into a tremble
Reverberates through your assembled
House of Cards, which is no more
Than a mess upon your floor.
