Asking for someone else: NJ
Couple currently over income threshold for Medicaid. (Makes 2k a month and expecting first child)
Having baby under her parents plan. Will infant be covered at all?
Is there a child health plus type of thing in nj?
What's best way to get insurance for them as a family?

Thanks

The infant will NOT be covered by the mother's policy.
It's possible they qualify for health insurance for their child. THe income levels for jersey care are clearly stated online.

The rates for an expectant mother is higher than the regular rate. She is considered a family of 3. Let her apply as pregnant for herself and then the baby is covered on NJ family care until 1. Just make sure she hands in the correct paperwork after the baby is born.

They just had this exact question in the Lakewood Voice last week. They stated an income of $39,000 a year, and this income would qualify them for Medicaid for the pregnant mother and child. The author of the article was adamant that the mother should apply for Medicaid even if she is covered under her parent's plan, and that way the baby will be automatically covered until he/she is a year old. The LRRC in Lakewood is very helpful with these issues - she can call them.

If their income is too high, then only the mother and baby will be covered, but not the father.
