Do you have a theme or color scheme?

Small bottles of grape juice in an ice bucket (no ice though), with a sticker that reads: Thank you for participating in XX's Bar Mitzvah. This bottle of grape juice is redeemable for a bottle of champagne at his wedding."

We did that at my brother's Bar Mitzvah and at his wedding, my mom bought a dozen small bottles of Asti... and there were at least 7 people who brought the grape juice!

Kmelion - cute idea, but totally not applicable. Probably about 90% of the guests won't be at his wedding. And they wouldn't get it sanyway.

As for theme/color scheme - The hall is called "The Royal Barrel" and has many things (like table legs) in the shape of barrels. The general color scheme is brown/maroon. I and my daughters will be dressed in beige/maroon. My sons' suits are brown.

Maybe something like chocolate lollipops in different shpaes on long sticks. You can use different colors of chocolate and stick the sticks in interesting containsers (barrels even if you want to keep the theme going) anchored in florist foam.

Rolling Eyes I works with brown.

You can do candles small then tall then small.

Most of them seem to be in the same boat but I happened to like them.

my girlfriend bought books and put them on the tables (displayed on a plastic easel?) with a sign that said the books were being donated to the boy's school or our community kollel.

I think she got some new siddurim for a great price that were mis-imprinted, but they were great for the school's beis medrash

Funny that this thread should come up again now - I'm making another Bar Mitzvah in two months, IYH!
For the first one, I did big wine glasses (actually water with just enough grape juice for color) with a candle floating inside and a bunch of fake grapes on the bottom. For the second, I made Tefillin from square dark brown candles with a gold contact paper Shin, a styrafoam (sp?) base covered in brown material and a wide brown ribbon.

I'd love to get ideas for this upcoming one! Bear in mind that it's for a mostly non-Frum crowd. TIA!

No pictures at hand just now, sorry! Maybe in a few days. For this one we ended up doing Tefillin cakes as centerpieces. They then doubled as dessert.

Thank you Dr. Mom.

I'm looking for something classic but different. Nothing personal or time of year dependent. An interesting twist to the usual is fine. I just don't want it to be the same old. I don't want to have to bake either.

The usuals would be floating candles in a bowl, flowers etc.
