Also, if you get one with a higher weight limit, the straps would probably extend more to fit an older child, as that is what it is designed for.
Some of the ones I mentioned earlier go up to 65, 70, and even 85 lb. |
Thanks. The convertible we have now goes until 50 pounds. Dd must be at least 12 pounds under but the straps are still tight.

We have something very similar to https://www.walmart.com/ip/Saf.....99290 that still has room for my 5 year old in the harness, but, even once the straps have no more slack, I can use it as belt positioning until 100 lb

As a rule, car seats are outgrown by height before weight unless the child has very unusual proportions.

wow... a 5 yr old in a car seat. My kids are small but it just wouldn't work at that age. My son is 5 and has been in a booster for a little over a yr. I haven't seen a child that age in a car seat.

What's that mean?
You let your child rule you over safety?
My 6 yr old just got out of a car seat ( it becomes a back booster).
You do what the law and safety say.

My kids are big for their age, and my 5 year old is in a carseat. It looks like a high back booster, it doesnt lean back like a baby carseat. but it does have the 5 point harness which is key for safety.
You too can do it!

My 5 year old is in a high back booster that works with a seat belt.
It also has a latch system which secures it nicely.
I dislike the boosters that are only secured with the seat belt, it doesn’t feel as safe.
I believe this is what I have:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d.....lSrch
I also like that it is adjustable as the child grows taller you can make the back higher.

my 5 year old is in the diono radian rxt. great car seat that converts to a booster afterwards. However, I plan on keeping her in the car seat mode as long as possible.
