In my 5 bedroom 2 bathroom house in about 4-5 hours my cleaning lady: irons a bunch of shirts, cleans and tidies the kitchen, tidies living and play room, tidies bedrooms, some days changes linen, washes and vacuums, empties bins, plus a bunch of other stuff I can't recall now. She doesn't do a perfect job but the house looks pretty tidy.
I don't think you need those extra hours on the same day. If she can come another day it would make more sense.
As for whether a cleaner is needed, it really depends on the person, their lifestyle, amount of kids etc. If I didn't have to make shabbos every week for lots of guests, and had none or less kids, yes cleaning help would be less needed.
