Which celebrities need to shut up already? Let's not make this about their physical appearances please. I will start- Ellen Pompeo. She posted on her twitter feed that she doesn't want Trump supporters to watch her show.
FTR I'm not a fan of our POTUS

99% of them that make political statements. Remember they are not famous for their brains or values. They should stick to their day jobs of reality TV, shooting hoops and singing on key.

Is this a joke? We elected a reality TV star as president. Now everyone else needs to shut up?

The fact that he was on a tv show is not relevant. He was elected to office because enough people liked what he had to say. Not so of other celebs who seem to think acting or singing or playing sports makes their political opinions matter.

Why do the opinions of celebrities matter any less than yours?
They're using their platform for a cause they believe in. Good for them.
I also use my platform for causes I believe in.

The celebs don't need a muzzle. You need to choose which celebs you want to listen to, that's all.
It's a free country; they can say what they want, and you can choose whether or not to listen.

Maybe people like what the other celebs have to say too.

Can we just make a list of who doesn’t need a muzzle? It would be so much shorter!

I don’t watch awards shows, but apparently a ton of stars now push their agenda when accepting an award. It wouldn’t be that bad if they were fighting for causes instead of their propaganda. They feel they have a right to share their opinions, but I have the right to see what’s on the next channel.

Yes, you do have the right to see what's ok the next channel. So by all means, do that.

I hear the fancier sets even come with an off button.

I’ve heard of those, but never used them. I’m partial to bathroom breaks and snack runs. (If I’m really desperate, I might use the time to put the clothes in the dryer).

It seems that many people are doing just that. Audience viewing rates for major awards shows (which many celebrities use as a platform for their political views) have been dropping steadily over the past few years. Ratings are down for the Emmys, the Oscars, and the MTV Music Awards.

The poll in the first link shows that most viewers are turned off my the overwhelmingly political tone of these shows.

I hate when celebrities spout off at awards shows. I used to really like Meryl Streep, but after her disgusting rant at the Golden Globes, I now see her as a loudmouth hag.

As O'Brien passed the telescreen a thought seemed to strike him. He stopped, turned aside and pressed a switch on the wall. There was a sharp snap. The voice had stopped.

Julia uttered a tiny sound, a sort of squeak of surprise. Even in the midst of his panic, Winston was too much taken aback to be able to hold his tongue.

'You can turn it off!' he said.

'Yes,' said O'Brien, 'we can turn it off. We have that privilege.'
