It says in Berachot 45b that "A hundred women are like two men". But it only takes one man to be a rabbi, so in any thread with 50 different posters (the higher number of anon or non-anons, we can't count both together because we can't be sure someone hasn't posted both ways) in which there is a majority for one position, that's a valid psak.

is this referring to drinking beer? that it takes 100 women to drink the amount that 2 men can drink?

It's about doing zimun before birkat hamazon.

ah, so if I hear it correctly, you can have mezuman with 100 women and one man. Which is a wonderful thing because those are the approximate proportions at many singles events.

We had a mezumenet for both meals this Shabbat. DH said he felt outnumbered. And so he was.

That could lead to mixed dancing. But you could have any of those 100 women lead the zimun on the basis of two other women. And then everyone could look at the one man to see if he
1) answers
2) sits there like a golem
3) runs from the room in panic (but in a ladylike manner)
and draws conclusions from that

But what if he believes in mixed mezumans? And he insists on leading because he's a Cohen. In that case he can't watch all 100 women to see what they do but he can note who stays.

At first this tangent reminded me of the 3/5ths compromise.

By now it's more like a complicated sugya in maseches yevumos.

Math is so not my thing...

Eh, I'm sure it's all apologetics. (Just had to beat everyone else to it. Personally, I'm sure it's not.)

Since PF asked which one, I need to remind you all that Yael frowns upon polularity contests.
