Guys, please help me out. WhI ch would you choose?
Here is the story. We are offered 2 insurance plans. Oxford Liberty, and Oxford Freedom. I don't know which to choose. Oxford Freedom would cost me 400 more a month. I know it's a super plan. Oxford libery is ok, much less doctors accept it. Neither needs a referral. Both offer out of net work benefits, with a deductible of a few thousand dollars. I could afford the extra money, but it's 5000 a year. That's alot of money. Really. I'm inclined to go with the cheaper plan, but sometimes it's dumb to try to be cheap with these things, it backfires. What would you do?

I don’t know, but I have Oxford freedom. It covers everything I ever needed it to. But I can’t tell you the difference between liberty. ( I don’t pay insurance - still covered under my parents)

Its all about your tolerance for risk. You have to make your own choice based on you - not on what I or anyone else would do.

Out of pocket costs may be incurred in other ways besides premiums: copays, medication costs, deductibles, etc. Make sure you know what you are comparing. Of course, no one has a crystal ball, but you can estimate your family's insurance usage and see which one works best for you. Make sure the doctors you like participate with the plan you choose.

Depends what Oxford Freedom plan there is. There are usually options. For example when I had the one with a deductible, nothing was ever covered and I was paying through my nose. When I chose the non deductible plan it was in network only but much better coverage.
Also I don't know where you live but in Rockland County lots of doctors stopped accepting Oxford and I end up paying out of pocket for most of my specialist. I know that it's considered a great insurance if you live in the city. In Rockland for some reason doctors are more eager to accept Fidelis .

The issue is that my pediatrician, obgyn, dermatologist, etc all accept the liberty. Bh, we are all healthy bli ayin hara. The bigger issue is chas vshalom if there was an emergency, freedom definitely has a much better network in ny. It's strictly a copay plan, the more expensive freedom plan has copays 10 dollars less for drs, but that's a very small duiference. Drs copay are still large either way, think 40 vs 50 for specialist. Ignoring the names of the plans, what would most of you do...gamble? Take the more expensive one?

My doctors accept the cheaper plan. That's the question. Should I spend the extra money just in case cv someone gets I'll and I need a top specialist etc...
