DD wants to come visit Israel on her spring break.

She is 14 years old, and has a lot of experience flying.
She will have to travel as an "unaccompanied minor"
She'll be going from Medford, Oregon, to Tel Aviv.
The dates are March 13th through March 30th, give or take a day on either side.

My problems are:
Most airlines won't hand a minor over to another airline carrier. With international travel, that's almost impossible to avoid.
If you do find a carrier that is consistent on every leg of the flight, you end up with 12 to 22 hour layovers in various places. She will freak out if she has to wait that long, and it will make what should be a simple trip, into a two day ordeal.
I'd like the total price of the ticket to come in under $2,000.

I have not seen my girl since Purim, and this would mean the world to me.

HELP!!!!! Help

The search timed out. I tried them before, but as soon as they see a 14yo traveling alone, it redirects you to call customer service. Also, the base cost of the flight is $1,945, not counting fees for a solo minor. I was hoping to find something less expensive.

I think united will be your best bet in terms of one carrier and limited layover, but you will need to call to discuss the minor fees . I have also heard that the direct flight from San Francisco is excellent and it’s the best option coming from the west coast. Here’s the flights I am looking at:

Tue, Mar 13, 2018
MFR - TLV 5:40 pm - 8:40 pm
Fri, Mar 30, 2018
TLV - MFR 12:55 am - 10:32 am
Fare$1,741.00
Taxes and fees $102.18
TOTAL $1,843.18

Here are two less expensive alternatives on United, although the flight duration is slightly longer.

Leave MFR Sunday, March 11, arrive TLV Monday, March 12
MFR - SFO (San Francisco), United 5811
5:40 PM – 6:58 PM
SFO - TLV, United 954
9:30 PM – 8:40 PM
Total travel time is 18 hours.

Leave TLV Saturday, March 31, arrive MFR Sunday, April 1
TLV - EWR (Newark), United 91
11:10 PM – 4:15 AM
EWR – DEN (Denver), United 282
7:30 AM – 10:00 AM
DEN - MFR, United 5227
11:34 AM – 1:21 PM
Total travel time is 24 hours, 11 min.

Cost is $1694 for one adult.

Leave MFR on the 13th, arrive TLV on the 14th:
MFR – SFO, United 5562
10:30 AM – 12:01 PM
SFO – EWR (Newark), United 779
1:30 PM – 9:51 PM
EWR – TLV, United 90
11:00 PM – 3:20 PM
Total travel time is 19 hours, 50 min.

Same return flight as above. Total cost is $1565 for one adult.

There are less expensive flights, but they require transferring between two airlines.

I am DELIGHTED your daughter wants to return to Israel to visit you.

FF, I hope it works out! Besides for calling United, you could try a travel agent to see if they can get her on the same flight for a better price. Try Tzivia at SST tours in Brooklyn. Tell her whats going on. She's a doll. We used her when we had a funeral in Israel and she called to check up on us....make sure everything was going smoothly. 718 972 1200

I flew international at that age, unaccompanied minor, with a 12 hour stop over. It was really not that bad.
