Why do neighborhoods die out?

1. Cost of living

2. Shul/community not attractive to the young

3. Safety

So what’s the big deal, it’s only a house, a block...

Move on.

The big deal is that it's not only a house, a block... a community can be like a family with a shared heritage. I think that's a dying concept with the way people move around these days. Which is an even stronger reason why it's sad when established communities fizzle.

My family is American (and living in Brooklyn) since 1905 and were also Chasidish. We started off in Williamsburg then the Hungarians kicked us out so we went to Boro Park and now they kicked us out of there again.
So we went to Lakewood and there they are kicking us out again.
I speak English like a Brooklyn kid skipping my R's at the end of the word etc.
And a chasidish lady asked me you have an accent. Are you kidding me?

Excuse me, I was here before you.

Lolllllllll I love my friends and I am still proud to be American.

Monsey, in the area old timers called "up the hill." I used to daven at Community Synagogue. It's still there, limping along with a few members.

Before the Chasidim invaded Boro Park many American Jews lived there. They weren't modern.

There’s a well known shul in bp called congregation shomer shabbos because back in the day that was the only or one of the only shomer shabbos shuls. So I’ve been told
