I'm hosting party tonight. I baked pepper steak in oven. It turned out rubbery. How do I save it to soften it up?

Cook it in tomato sauce. It helps break down the toughness.

When this happened to me, I added liquid and put the meat back into the oven for additional baking time. That did the trick.

I assume I am to late for this party but be careful next time you buy pepper steak, they usually just take a cheap cut off meat and slice it thin. Ask for a better piece of meat to be sliced for you. If you are going to go with off the shelf for pepper steak it needs to be cooked for a long time in order to soften. Cannot be stir-fried like you see in those recipes, the meat will be imbearably chewy.

OP, add a good amount of red dry wine to steak and continue to cook it. Should do the trick.
