I struggle every year with who to tip, and what's appropriate. My husband gives his workers alcoholic beverages for New Years but what to give mailman, doorman, garbage men.. Etc.. Any idea on what's appropriate and how to do it in an appropriate way?

Here's an article from Forbes in 2013 https://www.forbes.com/sites/l.....whom/

You'll prob want to check with neighbors to see if anything changed in your particular area since then

Federal workers like mailmen are not allowed to accepts tips & gift.
Now is a good time to tip/gift your pediatrician's office or any non Jewish therapists your family uses.
Same goes for non Jewish bus drivers who you don't tip Chanuka/purim.

It’s a nice time to tip teachers, and most people I know do give a small gift to the mailmen and delivery men too.

Tip the doorman- give a card with money in it.
Mailman- if its the same one
Garbage men- optional.
Ups/fed ex/ usps- if you get a lotttt of deliveries and the same guy delivers it
Teachers- Chanukah is a nice time to tip
In general- it's to those that you see often......

By us, (suburbs) garbage men is not optional. They work hard and come twice a week to haul our garbage.

Then tip them for sure!!! By us they leave a trail of garbage behind every time and leave my garbage cans scattered all over the place. But I tip them anyways.
