We got kicked off medicaid as of November 30 of 2017. We didn't send in our re-cert forms on time. But then we DID send them in and they misunderstood our family size and told us we no longer qualify. But I had a hearing by phone and cleared it up. They just put us back on, retroactive to December 1 of 2017 (what we paid out of pocket in Dec and Jan we should be able to recoup if pharmacy is willing to bill insurance now)
In doing our taxes now do I state that we DID have health insurance for all of 2017? During December we thought we didn't, and nothing could be billed to it, but now it's been reinstated retroactively. Am I honest in trying to get out of paying the fine?
Thanks.

As it stands now on January 30, 2018 you had coverage from Medicare for all of 2017. No fine for you.
