What would your reaction be if your cleaning woman was sick, but showed up to your house to work? I feel terrible for giving her work to do, but she obviously wants the money.
She took off two days this week, but came back to work today, still with a cold. When she came today, I asked her how she was, she said, "not so good."

I had this happen to me once I send her home and gave her full pay anyways.
I feel very bad for them they don’t have paid sick days or any other benefits.

Lots of people work when they are sick, but obviously depends on how sick and the person’s discomfort tolerance. It is kind to give a sick day but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to let her work if she showed up ( unless she really seems unwell).

If housekeeper shows up just slightly sick I let her work, but cut down on her responsibilities so she can leave early and keep her away from things like unloading the dishwasher (don't need a germy person touching our dishes) and making our beds (again, don't want to sleep in germy bed). I give her a mask to wear.
But if she is a wreck, if she looks like she really should be home resting, I send her home with pay. Other types of employees get sick pay. I feel like I can give her a few sick days too. It's in my interest also that she return to work healthy and not drag around sick for weeks because she never had a chance to recover properly.
