How do people afford health insurance??

To clarify, if an employer offers health insurance for dependents, you can not get a subsidy with Obamacare. It's a crazy outcome but unfortunately the Republicans never allowed Obamacare to be modified in order to make it better. Most major legislation is tweaked over the years as anomalies such as this are discovered.

A deductible is the amount you are responsible for until health insurance starts reimbursements.

A co-pay is the amount that you must pay for each service. It is either a fixed amount - I.e. $25 per visit and $50 for specialist or a percentage for other kinds of services.

There is also a cap on annual out of pocket expenses so that in the event one incurs huge medical expenses, insurance will pay 100% after the out of pocket cap is reached.

All of these vary depending on how good the plan is which generally comports with premium amount :-)

Thanks for the info. I'll be meeting with someone in this field on Monday and I'll see what she had to offer.
