Is the original book suitable for a precocious 11 year old? Is the content clean?
I don't have time to pre-read it and she's bored:). Thanks!

It's a Christian allegory, if that matters to you. Otherwise it should be fine, if a bit wordy and possibly boring.

The content is “clean,” and the allegorical elements will go right over the head of most 11-year-olds, unless they know a lot about colonialism and moral philosophy. The idea of why we treat others the way we do—what’s the basis for a moral code—isn’t answered in any way that is specifically counter to Torah teachings. He’ll read it mostly as an adventure story. If he’s outraged at the treatment of little people by giants, congratulate yourself for raising a fine Jewish child!

It is a satire about (among other things) British colonial government, notions of humanity. It may go over your DD's head a bit, but the story is still entertaining.
