Picture a Shushan in dull grey shades
Reflecting impending doom
Haman in charge, a destructive decree
What could dispel the gloom?

And yet in a moment - venahapoch hu -
We joyfully reaccepted the Torah
The yad Hashem was seen by those in the know
And layehudim hayesa orah

And simcha and sasson, v'kar to the max
No more life colored in dreary hues
And today we remember and share from our heart
And uplift and rejoice with all Jews.

Here's the rainbow poem I posted a few years ago. Feel free to adapt it if you like it.

In the third year of Achashveirosh's... RAIN
Our colorful story started;. .
In PURPLE robes, the king feasted. .
And from Vashti, he was parted. .
.
His search let him to Hadassah, .
Who turned a little GREEN .
When she thought about the fact .
That she would be a queen. .
.
Next, Haman ROSE to power .
And everyone did kowtow .
Except, of course, for Mordechai, .
Who just refused to ............................BOW.

Mordechai overheard the BLACK plans
Of two YELLOW-bellied guards
Esther told how Mordechai
Heard it in the king's front yards.

When Haman got permission
To murder all the Jews,
Mordechai turned WHITE with fear
And started singing the BLUES.

The people all fasted and davened
As Esther's feet grew cold,
But the king smiled when she entered,
And held out his scepter of GOLD.

A party, a sleepless night,
The king asked for his book to be RED
Just when Haman, entering the palace,
Was dreaming that we'd all be dead.

So excited to be at the party
(His nose was really BROWN),
But his outlook wasn't so PEACHy
When leading Mordechai through town.

At the end, Esther told Achashveirosh
"It is Haman who wants me dead."
"How could he wish such a thing?" asked the king;
"Is there something wrong with his head?"

It was a GRAY time for our enemies
When the thirteenth of Adar came;
ORANGE you glad for the תפילה
That saved us once again?

The moral of our Purim TEAL
Is very CLEAR to see;
When we think that things are hopeless,
We're wrong as we can be.

Just like Esther's identity hidden,
And when it's raining, you can't see the bow,
So, we learn from the Megillah
That ה' "צבע"ות runs the show.

You may think I have nothing to do
Since I’m sending my crayons to you
I’d stay up half the night
Choosing a color that’s right
Every color reminds me of work I must do
Hearing magillah and helping a poor Jew
They also remind me that we can enjoy a colorful life
Focusing on good and not just on strife
Each color I send is special you know
Not diverse and different but part of a show
Sending just one wouldn’t be right
Alone he may avoid any fight
But together our crayons join in good cheer
To wish you a spectacular and special year
We are like the crayons all coming your way
Unique and special each in their own way

Stand at attention don’t forget to salute
The captain may not like it you may get the boot
After all in the army when we are told what to do
We have be quick the whole day through
Off to megilla before it’s too late
And make sure you deliver the treats on a plate
The day is busy and the time is short
The real captain is looking how we consort
We come to you our task at hand
To bring you something special from the guy in command
He knows what you need and sent us your way
Hoping we add to your very special day
