30 minutes. I've been sick from undercooked hot dogs before.

Hot dogs are technically already edible out of the package, aren't they?

30 minutes sounds awfully long to me. I would think 10-15 minutes (boiling) would be plenty of time. You can also pan-grill them and in that case you need even less time.

Crayon is right - hot dog meat is cooked before it's put into the casing.

they don't have to go thirty minutes. when you boil them they are done when plump, and probably beforehand as well. you can put them straight in a frying pan, it'll be the same as a grill basically. in an oven I don't know the time, but it's fine once it reaches a certain temperature. technically speaking they are pre-cooked.

I would not chance it. As kids, we always boiled them for 30 minutes. I have done less, and been horribly sick.

My mom also said she's gotten sick from undercooked hot dogs.
