If you live in Brooklyn, (it sounds from your post that you do), this is what I did and it really worked. On a nice day, (now it's a little harder because of the cold), I went to the park in my neighborhood. I prepared index cards with my name and phone number, and handed these cards out to the other Russian babysitters in the park. I told them I'm looking for a babysitter, what the hours are that I need, etc. A lot of them have friends and are networked. I got a few phone calls from people who were interested in the job. All of them had references, many worked at 1 or 2 families for a few years. 1 of them worked out and b'h I'm thankful to have her.
