This was the first season that I have ever watched, and I must say that I was surprised at the ending. Does this always happen, that the bachelor decided on noone? Why did he buy a ring if he had no intentions of proposing?
Is this entire thing even for real?? Or are they just a bunch of actors and actresses pretending??

It's all staged. It's really dumb. Even if he decides on one of the girls they usually break up after the show finishes.

I was surprised because this bachelor sounded real. Southern guy, family values, morals. But I didn't like him at the end when he turned down both.

I was shocked! what an idiot! I also thought he was the real deal, he seemed so genuine, so easy to read... never thought he would do this!
weird...
Its not all the way staged, some parts are. but for the most part, its a reality show, and there have been some bachelors/ bachelorettes that get married.

I watched this show when it aired a while back
the girl that played hard to get Won the game . at the end. and got a ring
that the bachor paid for himself , months later they broke up .
----------------------------------------------- :
I saw the beginning of last night show and thought the girls looked like
they realy wanted to marry.
did this bachelor have a twin brother?

They really did look like they wanted to marry, but I thought the bachelor did, too.
Yes, he had a twin brother whom he used to play tricks on the girls with.

This TV show could be one of the worst shows on TV
It sets women up to terrible hurts.

Well to the bachelor's credit, if he didn't think he would marry the girl, it was ethical of him not to propose, despite what America wants to see.
There's a very low success rate with these shows, despite all of the drama and emotions that go into it. Trista and Ryan (from the first Bachelorette) are still married, after like 4 years or something and had a baby over the summer . So can't be completely staged.

Anyone who goes on national TV to find 'true love' is a moron.

I was just thinking today, this guy was on tv..
the only ppl who would even wanna date him are the ppl who want to be with a semi celebrity, how will he ever find someone normal that would take him seriously now? he really screwed himself up.

The producers wanted a dramatic ending to boost their ratings

This was the 11th season, so I assume it's at least a bit popular.

By low success rate, I don't mean for ABC, I mean for the 'true love' or engagements lasting. You watch the end and everything looks so perfect. Gorgeous guy in tux, gorgeous girl in heels and evening gown, he finally chooses her and asks her to marry him, she jumps into his arms. They kiss. There's background music and flowers and a sun setting in the background. Sounds just perfect.
But for the vast majority of the time, the love ends soon after.
