Does anyone know if it really adds a lot of fat to put beef bones into a soup?

If they are marrow bones, then there is a considerable amount of fat added, but the added taste is so worth it IMO - non marrow bones don't tend to add a sig. amt of fat.

Yes, they are marrow bones... you really think it's worth the fat?

What I usually do is cook the soup with the bones, then remove the bones (dh and ds like to spread the marrow on toast - not for me
Then I chill the soup so the fat rises and I remove it. Then heat and serve soup as nec. I personally find the taste it adds to the cholent or soup very delic. BTW, the taste comes from the marrow!. As for cholent, I try to 'mix' it well when serving it on Shabbos.
