Apparently, you CAN refreeze even raw, as long as the food was cold the whole time (source: Nechoma Greisman's book). Only warm food breeds bacteria.

I had the question tonight with white (or brown) rice.
My sister in law said it should be fine.
So.... add that to my list for post baby frozen food. Rice to have with (already) frozen meatballs!

that is good news since I love macarroni and cheese and don't exactly feel like making it later on thanks. what can I freeze it in that I will taste good since I have no more plastic containers left?
rice and brown rice are good freezers and taste the same even after it has defrosted and rewarmed again.

supermom, thanks for the varification re: rice! (HOW DO YOU HEAT IT UP????)
re: mac & cheese containers- place in aluminum disposable pans. This way you can defrost/warm up directly in oven or toaster oven when needed.

don't have tin pans in my house don't use them for cooking either. as for the rice I heat it up in a microwave, or you can do it over the stove or in the oven when you reheat your meatballs.

How do you freeze lasagna - do you freeze it raw or cooked? Can it be done either way?
(I would like to freeze it raw since I don't have room in my oven for more than one pan anyway.)
