This looks like an interesting apple kugel

5 green, tart apples (may be peeled)
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
3 large eggs
3/4 cup vegetable oil
2 Tbs. vanilla sugar or 1 Tbs. vanilla extract
200 grams apricot preserves (about 7 oz)
cinnamon

Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, eggs, oil, and vanilla sugar /vanilla in a large bowl and mix until smooth.
Place apples in a casserole dish and spread apricot preserves over apples with a spoon. A small amount of hot water may be added to the preserves to make it easier to spread. Sprinkle cinnamon over apples and preserves. Spoon batter on top. Bake at 350 F180 C for 1 hour.
To reduce calories, artificial sweetener for baking may be sibstituted for the sugar and up to 1/2 the oil may be replaced with the same quantity of prune juice.

No one commented so I will add: I made this and it was very good - not too sweet. It was like a kugel, not a cake. I used less jam than the recipe calls for: one jar for two recipes.

Isn't this the apple kugel from Kosher Palette or Entertains? If so, it's really good and it's my #1 favorite apple kugel.

I got it off my new Emuna calendar, I think from August 2009 page. Next year. I don't know where they got it but I think it was translated from Hebrew.
