I always wanted a cast iron dutch oven, and now I found a really good deal on one so I plan on buying it. My question is: the pot comes pre - seasoned from the factory and it says they use vegetable oil to season their pots. Am I allowed to use it? Should I kasher it? Any input would be appreciated.

It's a heavy pot often made out of cast iron that can be used on the stovetop and also in the oven. It's usually used for soups, stews, chili, cholent, etc.
A cast iron pot or pan has to be seasoned before you use it to prevent rust and a metallic taste and to provide a nonstick coat. The way to season a pot is to coat it inside and out with grease and bake it like that for a while. Then, every time you use it, it gets more and more seasoned.
I sure hope I can use the one I have my eye on!
