Thinking about the state of the world today and the recent tragic events that affect us (Am Yisrael) personally - fallen economy, Sderot, Merkaz Harav, Mumbai, Chevron, and especially now with the War in Gaza, some pasukim have come to mind:

נוצר תאנה יוכל פריה - משלי כח:יח
"The protector of a fig tree will eat its fruit"

ארור הגבר אשר יבטח באדם...ברוך הגבר אשר יבטח בה' והיה ה' מבטחו - ירמי' יז:ה-ז
"Accursed is the man who trusts in people...Blessed is the man who trust in Hashem, then Hashem will be his security"
