I just make potato kugel batter, then dropped spoonfuls in hot oil and deep fried....yummmmmm

just out of curiosity- you make it sound like this is a "chiddush"- how do you make potato latkes USUALLY? potato latkes by us are the same ingredients as potato kugel. maybe a drop less oil because its gonna be fried in oil.... just curious.

Sorry pomegranate, I wolfed them down
The latkes I've eaten were all coursely grated. I used the small hole grater to get a potato kugel texture, so they were much thicker than latkes and tasted like tiny potato kugels with the yummy gooeyish inside and lightly fired outside. Heaven.
