My prob is she sang here in a Conservative shul to both men and women, which I found shocking and therefore did not attend and ia"h won't ...... what heter could she have gotten?!!!!! Confused

happyduck I bet Dari at OSRUI- a reform camp in Wisconsin right before I became frum. I was counselors with her there. Her sister came and performed at the camp.

the truth is I was a bit shocked because she was singing and her band are men but the concert was for women only. and it was a bit bad she said my father always said you should follow your heart even if it means breaking kol isha like iv done.

she is very good but it was a bit poppy

does she have any other brothers or sisters.

They say about Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach that he was one of the 36 hidden tzaddikim. There is a story in the gemara about a rabbi who would dance with the bride at weddings. He was on a such a high level that he wasn't affected by touching her and was dancing with her in order to fulfill the mitzva of making her happy. I don't know the details, but people say that Rabbi Carlebach was on such a level and that is why he could touch women.

That was interesting, about following one's heart. You have to know how far you can take it, though. Not that any of us can determine it for other people.

his music did a lot of good too. I know a bunch of people who through his music their neshamas were touched and are frum today.

nobody can deny all those songs he made up, or that he touched people through his music, but what happened in the end is very strange, and a mystery to me!

Even if the end result is kosher I was always taught the begining has to be too.
How many women versus men became frum from his music and everything that went along with it..... ?!

Just want to know how many Great Rabbonim condoned his way of performing etc ?!

Are you reffering to the fact that some people say that Carlebach went off the derech in the end?

Also, Torah is very against the principal that end justifyes the means.

I have no idea what you are talking about. There are whole communities of people who became religious because of Rabbi Carlebach. It's a whole movement.

I know someone who I can ask about him, but she's out of town right now.
