we don't want to eat out, and we don't watch movies.
A friend just came by for a few minutes, and it looks like that was our evening. I don't think we'll be going anywhere tonight in the end.
But I'd still appreciate suggestions for another week.

if you want to spend time just being together, how about just walking in the mall and window shopping; if you like getting together with friends, have a couple over for a boardgame. you can check out community activities and maybe attend an instrumental concert - sometimes the library or the local community college have such programs that are free or are inexpensive.

if you haven't tried boardgames - go to toys r us (or wherever) and pick out a game together - and then go home and enjoy it together (with popcorn!)

you can go to barnes and noble and pick one section to peruse - you each have to pick an interesting book, read one chapter or something, and than discuss what you read. you can even pick out your favorite childhood book in the kids section - the idea being to just relax and enjoy one another's company with some shared laughter. go to the marital help section and find something together you'd like to work on together; go to the cookbooks and find a recipe or plan a meal that you'll both try together in the kitchen.

each of you make a purchase in a store for the other and put it on "hold", then give each other 3 or 4 clues leading to the store - and the surprise gift. (just something inexpensive or fun)

volunteer together - visit an old age home, or a soup kitchen -- you can do it once and if you like it, its something you can do together more often.

go to the local ice skating rink and watch a hockey game - I don't think there's any charge to watch high school teams. if you live near yeshivas that have basketball or hockey teams, you can watch their school games.

look in the paper for art exhibits, photography shows, etc...

hope these ideas help. have fun!

the center for kosher culinary arts in bklyn (on coney island ave) has motzei shabbos programs, its 50 dollars per person tho, kind of pricy, but it is a cooking demo and then you get to eat the food! we hvaent gone yet but plan to go this winter, sounds exciting and different.

Wrap the kids up in the carriage and go for a long walk (everyone naps so no one is tired anyway). Sometimes stop for coffee.

Light the fireplace, pop popcorn, and relax.

(or cleanup from shabbos - the least popular option)
