I make the Golden Potato Kugel from the purple book (Spice and Spirit). I always make two 9x13 kugels at a time and then cut it into the portions I want and freeze it. It freezes really well. I also use the 4x8 tins (I think that is the size) for the kugel and just freeze it in that. I take the kugel out and put it in the oven for about an hour before Shabbos and it tastes like it was just made (not watery at all).

edited to add the page #304 for the Golden Potato Kugel

My mother froze cholent in the past. The idea grosses me out.

Potato kugal - definitely just put it straight from the freezer to the oven. Do not defrost.

You can most definitely, 100% freeze cholent. I've done it and it was just as good as if I hadn't froze it. I froze it in large tupperware like containers, when needed, took it out few hours before shabbos, let it defrost, put it into crockpot and that's it.

BTW, I usually fully cook the cholen t before it goes into the crockpot, so that's how I froze it, but you can cook it partially too and let the crockpot do the rest once defrosted.

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
After making a simcha, we sliced up the left over kugel, wrapped up "cholent pot portions" each individually in foil..... to be taken out each week and dropped in the cholent.

worked great till we ran out. Smile
