I found a salad that I am now adapting....but I need help with the dressing. I made the dressing from the unadapted salad and frankly, it was gross and had no flavor.
If possible, I would like measurements...
Here are my new ingredients -
romaine lettuce
shredded red cabbage (I shredded my own)
celery
mandarin orange (I think I have some still)
soy nuts
The original dressing was:
1/4 c oil
2 T vinegar
2 T brown sugar
salt & pepper
Can you adapt the dressing to have taste?
They sound like good ingredients, but not the right amount?
You're supposed to dress the salad 30 min. before to moisten the cabbage and make it less bitter, but I tried that and it was still NOT good.

Do this dressing appeal to you?
It is sweet and salty. I usually make it with romaine lettuce, oranges, edamame soybeans, and red onion. Yummy.
1 Tbsp deli mustard (or other mustard)
2 Tbsp sugar or sugar substitute equivalent to that amount
2 Tbsp soy sauce
1 Tbsp roasted/toasted sesame oil
1/4 cup oil
3 Tbsp rice wine vinegar
1 cube ginger (or some ground ginger)

If you want to try to "fix" your current dressing, I would add a lot more sugar to taste (white sugar), a generous amount of soy sauce, and a bit more vinegar.
