My son just got 11 stitches on his forehead(on erev shabbos of course!) and I am not sure how to bathe him. Will a waterproof band-aid be ok? How concerned do I need to be about getting them wet? My husband brought him and does not remember the dr. mentioning anything about getting it wet. Any tips?
Thanks!

For 11 stitches, a waterproof bandaid is probably not sufficient. Can you call your pediatrician's office and talk to the nurse or whoever covers for your dr? If not, don't get that area wet tonight (just use your hand to wash other parts of his face) and call tomorrow

Years ago one of my kids also had stitches on the forehead, we were told not to get it wet. My son was 5 at the time, so I just bathed him and only washed part of his hair, I left hte area around his forehead alone. I think it was for a week.

Wash his hair and stop before you reach his hair line

Make a shallow bath, and only bathe his body. Do not allow him to splash.
Once he is out of the bath, sponge his head/hair with a damp, not wet, washcloth that has some soap/shampoo on it.

Try to get a covering for his farhead as well.

After 24 hours, stitches can get wet, but not soaked. washing his face and hair with soap is fine, but I wouldn't let him put his head under the bathwater to soak.

When I had 12 stitches a few months ago, I was not able to get it wet for 48 hours, after that I was allowed to shower regularly.
