I know plenty of people WHO GOT THE VACCINE and still caught the mumps!

My sister is in an Israeli seminary now too, and they had a mumps case there. But they were really careful, and put the girl in her own room with her own bathroom, and BH noone else got it from her, (yet)!

Legal action against your daughters seminary? Thats really ridiculous, in my opinion. If your daughter caught the flu would you sue? What about strep? Or a cold?

It probably wouldn't have spread so easily if everyone would have been vaccinated.

I don't think that's true. This seems to be a different strain, so the vaccination is a moot point.

I wish I kept the copy of a message sent to me regarding the Israeli reaction from someone in the medical community demanding an investigation of vaccines - not individuals, since they see according the vaccine rate, the problem isn't individuals - so I could share it right now. They're upset because they clearly are seeing that the vaccines aren't working the way they're supposed to.

OP, I can see you're concerned about your dd. Fear of the unknown sometimes leads us to overreact because we don't have accurate info. You can research if you'd like to be reassured; assuming you don't know where to start I'll say that mumps have been considered for generations an uncomfortable childhood disease that rarely have long term complications. Tell her to get some vitamin C and mega dose and it will up her resistance so she doesn't come down with it; if she does have it already, with the help of the vitamin C she'll be over it before you know it.

DD came down with mumps last week. She is/was home until today. I had to go get the 3 & 6 y.o.'s the second shot right away. Yes, my children are fully vaccinated. Our neighbor, who is in DD's class, had it two weeks ago. And a girl in their class who had it at the same time came back to school still sick. THIS gets me upset. But, like Hashem Yaazor says, it's all min Hashamayim, and it's not foolproof. There is one thing, though, these kids who were immunized, got it relatively mildly. DD didn't have fever at all. Just uncomfortable.

When I went to get the shots for the little ones, the nurse told me two possibilites that the Misrad HaBriut is looking into:
1. The vaccinations aren't working correctly.
2. This is a different strain of virus that is not included.

Another possibility is:
3. This isn't really mumps, but it is mimicking mumps symptoms.

Another neighbor is the DIL of a famous pediatrician here in Yerushalayim. He has patients who had been tested and had immunity to mumps, yet still came down with this disease. So he thinks it's reason #2.

So, PLEASE don't blame the seminary nor hop onto the next plane. There is nothing to be done. BTW, no one else in my family has it.

If you study immunizations as well as some of the 'new' diseases we're now seeing, you'll see that many old illnesses have been redefined and given new names - "It can't be mumps, even though it looks like mumps in every way. Let's give it a new name." Epstein-Barr is one example that comes to mind.

The same mental gymnastics often occur when a vaccinated child comes down with a disease (like diptheria) they were vaccinated for - "they got the shot so it can't be this, it must be something else". If an unvaccinated child came in with the exact same symptoms they would be diagnosed accurately - and all that's different between the two is that one supposedly isn't supposed to be able to get the disease he clearly has. Gotta love the logic - the vaccines are working no matter what the evidence to the contrary is.

Happy Mom Thumbs Up

That's exactly it. People need to open their eyes and recognize that A) vaccines are not what they've always been led to believe they are and B) learn about the diseases and how to treat each one, just in case, CH"V. Fear of disease ends where learning about healing/treatments, and prevention starts. (And "vaccines" isn't synonymous with "prevention" although any typical health site seems to think so.)

Is there any scientific data or buzz saying that this a new strain?
I'm trying to get to the bottom of this. We are iy"H planning to travel to a city with a mumps outbreak. I have a kid immunosuppressants. Doing very well B"H but am not getting clear answers from the doctors about
- taking him or not (he's fine with being left behind, no problem there)
- having titers checked on my kids to see if they should get another booster (everyone is up to date)

The answers I got are
- from a dr. in the city: not to worry, it's happening everywhere.
Al tiftach piv l'soton! No it's not.

- in an email from a local specialist: if he's had his boosters not to worry but exercise caution.
No mention of the possibility of it being a new strain.

Thanks for any input. I'm tired now and hope I presented my concerns clearly.
