I remember seeing a recipe on the site somewhere for potato kugel you make on the stove, but I can't find it. just a forum talking about how to flip it over. recipe anyone? I seem to recall that this one had a ration of 1:1 for potatoes and eggs.

thanks!

What do you mean?

I mix everything in the food processor. The only is added to the pan; when it's hot I pour in the kugel mixture.

When it looks done, I flip it.

Hey! This sounds like something I should make, since I've been having some problems w/ my oven.
But wouldn't the top of the kugel turn grey/brown while the bottom gets done?

I don't use a exact recipe for potato kugel, but I'll try.

Small/medium frying pan
3-4 large idaho potatoes
1 really small onion
2 eggs
salt & pepper to taste
1/4 C oil aproximately

Either grate the potatoes with a hand grater, & then add everything but the oil. Or procces everthing with the small shredder in the food proccesor. (including the eggs)

Meanwhile heat up the oil on high heat. Once it's hot, add it to the bowl with the potato mixture & quickly stir to combine. Then transfer to pot & lower to low heat. Cook covered for 45 minutes, then flip & uncover for an additional 30 to 45 minutes.

I hope this helps.

like processed in the food processor, not grated. it turns to mush.

Actually you can do whatever you where doing in the oven, as long as you follow the cooking directions. (heating the oil & cooking time & method)

I don't have a good oven potato kugel recipe. that's why I'm looking for one here!
I don't know if using yours but processing the potatoes would work. it might generate more liquid than grating does.

I procces it in the food processor, but with the mini grater disc. I'm assuming you you use the blade that goes in the center of fp bowl. I never heard of making kugel like that- your potatoes don't break the blade?

Regardless, if it works in the oven, it should work the same on the stove top.

any potato kugel you see that isn't stringy has been processed. most bought kugels, packaged and from stores, are this way (in my experience).

If there is extra liquid, I would just drain it, before frying.

My potato kugel when done with the fp, is not stringy at all, it's more like goeey. It is only stringy if done with the hand greater- I guess the holes are bigger.
