Please help quick

my dh just took my 9 month old to an after hour clinic. he had a double ear infection last week and so the doctor he saw tonight said he still has one and WANTT TO GIVE HIM A SHOT to help clear it up. It's making me nervous and im not there! should I say no

rocephin is an antibiotic. calm down & ask your dh to calmly ask the dr why s/he would prefer the shot to oral meds.

I spoke to the doc on the phone and he said that the shot will be stronger and maybe help the double ear infection. I just panicked since I never heard of this before. so you've heard of it?

Can't help you about the specific drugs, but I've had IV antibiotics for a severe infection, and while I hate needles very much, the greater pain of the needle (compared to swallowing pills) was more than worth it for the accelerated relief of pain from the infection. If that's what's bothering you, the benefits could well be worth it if your baby seems to be in a lot of pain. Good luck!

thanks guys!! I just got so nervous because im not there at the appt and I never heard of this medicine. My baby has had a double ear infection now since wed. He's on omnicef and it doesnt seem to be working! Ill call our regular pediatrician tomorrow. I wonder what he's going to say...

That's funny. Wonder why he picked another drug of the same class, if the current one didn't work. Usually they try something completely different.
