An elderly pediatrician I have been in touch with via email, sent me this:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/201.....rning

http://www.virology.ws/

Quote:
The US Food and Drug Administration has recommended that administration of the Rotarix vaccine, which protects against rotavirus infection, be suspended. This action comes after an independent research group found that the vaccine contains DNA of porcine circovirus type 1.

Quote:
Porcine circovirus 1 DNA was also found in the cells used to produce Rotarix. Therefore the contaminant has been present since the early days of vaccine development, including clinical trials.

I have always had a small amount of guilt that I refused to give my son this vaccine.
2 months later he got the rotovirus.

took him 4 months to recover his weight loss and get over the symptoms.
I always wondered if I should have given the vaccine.

I guess I won't anymore

Keep in mind there are two rota vaccines--Rotarix and Rotateq.

Yes, this is the Rotarix. (The other one is Paul Offit's.)

Micki - I also didn't give the vaccine, and got comments from the dr when my toddler was sick this winter...they didn't even diagnose it as rotavirus, her immediate first reaction was to ask me why I didn't give the vaccine.

GR thanks for posting.
