I am having severe problems with my eyes and I need to see an ophthalmologist. Unfortunately my HMO doesn't cover any eye doctors so I will have to pay out of pocket. Please can anyone recommend an ophthalmologist in Manhattan, Brooklyn, or Queens, someone who doesn't charge exorbitantly? I know specialists are expensive but I really have no choice right now.

Are you sure that you are not covered for problematic eye Dr. appointments?
Sometimes only routine eye care is not covered.
Which ins. do you have? Maybe call the before Shabbos and ask?

Is it exclusively a vision problem or is it for example something wrong -(very itchy, watery, eyes)

It's more than a vision problem. It's pressure, pain.

There are obviously tons of eye dr's out there. I dont know where you are located but perhaps you could call Bikur Cholim of BP and find out if they have a recommendation that perhaps sould be discounted.
I guess you could call Dr. after Dr. to find out their rates- probably alot cheaper in Brooklyn then Manhattan
