Marina, you will share the recipe?

What's a recipe gonna help if we cant get cy condensed milk ourselves? Unless imamother.com starts selling it.

We need an actual sampling.

I saw it in Landau's, Goldberg's and Appetizing Plus. The company is Bakers Choice and they come in 12 oz glass jars.

Are they really in cans (if so what's the brand name)?! Or in glass jars - "baker's choice"?

Where are you? Maybe I can help you.

dulce de leche is spanish for milky caramel. (milk cooked up with sugar, I guess)
It tastes like caramel that is found in the middle of a milk munch bar. Or plain milchig caramels.
We put it on top of cheesecake or eat it straight from the jar. Yummy.
The brand from California is delicious.
Also is sold a lot in Israel. And Spanish countries like south America.
Here in the northeast USA it is not that popular, never was.
I have been buying it for years. Ever since it came out.
In Israel they put it into donuts at Chanuka. It is really popular there.
Here they use the pareve version, which is never as good.

This is probably a little late for Marina, but for anyone else who's interested...

I found a pareve substitution online for condensed milk. I don't think I'm brave enough to try it.
Is anyone else interested in being my guinea pig? (Sorry I said pig, no offense to those easily offended.)

SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK SUBSTITUTE

2 eggs
1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt

Mix all ingredients and use as a substitute for sweetened condensed milk in recipes for pies, bars and desserts.

The only 12 oz glass jars by bakers choice that I saw inthe grocery today is called CARAMEL CREAM. is that what you call condensed milk?

Let me tell you it was worth joining this site and fighting with everyone and getting booted off half a dozen times just to see those jars.

Yasher Koach! I will put up some pix when we finally make our milk condensed covered brownies or fudge or caramels or whatever the princess queen is planning to do.

Omg! It was worth coming back on this site, just for this!

I just choked on my lunch.

Oh how I would love to meet you in real life!
