Urinary Reflux | Imamother

My 5 month old ds had acid reflux (GERD) & taking prevacid. He was sick with high fever & after taking urine sample he has UTI (or as dr said kidney infection). The dr want me to take VCUG & some sonogram to rule out urinary reflux. Does acid reflux & urinary reflux go together?

My ds had urinary reflux, but no acid reflux. The acid has to do with the stomach and the urine has to do with the kidneys, as far as I know.

Totally unrelated. I had urinary reflux as a baby/child. It's an underdeveloped valve b/w bladder and kidney that allows urine to flow back up the wrong way and cause infections. Its graded on a scale of I to IV (or is it V?). The first 2 resolve themselve, the last two may need surgery. I was on preventitive antibiotics until age 6 but no surgeries needed.

Acid refluz is b/w stomach and esophogus and that valave in unrelated to kidney/bladder valve.
