My dd is 9.5 years old, and today I realized she has a real (mature ) sweat odor. After she changed clothes, I wanted to double check, so I smelled her shirt at the underarm,
Is it time for the talk???? Is it any sign of something????

Maybe yes, maybe no. Sometimes sweat is just sweat.

9.5 is definitely time. She has probably heard it from friends already.

I wouldn't give "the talk" unless she seems to be physically maturing.
I'd just buy her deodorant.

Fourth or fifth grade is when I began using deodorant. I don't think she needs to hear anything more than "When we get older, our sweat produces a smell. A great way to prevent that is by using deodorant."

Definitely would give her the talk. Would you rather her find out incorrect facts elsewhere. Give her a bottle of deo, sanitary pads, reading material etc and a synopsis of whats to come. Some of my sisters had their periods' at 9. It would be a shame for her to get a shock if this could be avoided. Good luck!

She is DEFINITELY not maturing physically yet, aside from the odor, she's still a kid. So perhaps I should just get her some cutesy deodorant without sounding too intimidating by offering too much info she's not ready for, yet.
